Tightens abdominal muscles and removes excess skin to create a firmer, smoother, more defined midsection.

  • A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen while tightening the underlying abdominal muscles. It helps restore a firmer, flatter, and more defined abdominal contour, especially in cases of muscle separation or loose skin resulting from pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or aging.

  • A tummy tuck is recommended for individuals with excess abdominal skin, weakened or separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), or localized fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. It is ideal for those seeking a smoother and more toned midsection and for patients who wish to restore abdominal firmness after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

  • There is no specific ideal age for abdominoplasty. The most important factors are overall health and the presence of abdominal changes that cannot be improved through non-surgical methods. Many patients undergo this procedure in their 30s, 40s, or later, often after completing pregnancies.

  • During the procedure, an incision is made horizontally along the lower abdomen, just above the pubic area. Through this access, excess skin and fat are removed, and the abdominal muscles are repaired and tightened. The remaining skin is then repositioned for a smoother contour.

In some cases, an additional incision around the navel is required to allow proper repositioning. Scars are placed in low, discreet locations designed to be easily concealed by underwear or swimwear.

  • A tummy tuck is typically performed under general anesthesia to ensure comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

  • The procedure usually takes between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the extent of correction needed and whether liposuction is combined with the surgery.

  • Most patients stay overnight in the hospital for monitoring, especially when muscle repair is involved. Some cases may be performed as outpatient procedures depending on patient health and the surgical plan.

  • Abdominoplasty is performed in accredited hospitals in Greater London, all of which uphold strict standards of sterilization, safety, and surgical care to ensure a secure and comfortable experience.

  • Most patients can resume light daily activities after 10 to 14 days. Swelling, tightness, and discomfort are common in the first weeks and gradually improve. Full recovery—including returning to exercise and strenuous activities—typically takes 6 to 8 weeks.

  • Post-operative care includes wearing compression garments, avoiding heavy lifting, keeping incisions clean, following prescribed medications, and walking in a slightly flexed position initially to reduce tension on the abdomen. Follow-up appointments are essential to monitor healing and ensure the best outcome.

  • The first step is to schedule a consultation. During this appointment, I will assess your abdominal structure, skin quality, and goals to determine whether a tummy tuck is the most suitable approach. I will also explain expected results and all relevant details regarding the procedure.

  • In line with UK Medical Council recommendations, healthy patients without significant medical conditions may not require extensive pre-operative tests. However, additional examinations such as blood tests or imaging may be advised depending on individual health factors.

  • Costs vary depending on the extent of the procedure, whether muscle repair is required, and if liposuction is combined. The total typically includes hospital fees, anesthetist’s fees, surgeon’s fees, and nursing care.

On average, prices range from £6,000 to £10,000. During your consultation, you will receive a personalised quote tailored to your specific needs and aesthetic goals.

If you are considering this surgery and would like personalised guidance, a tailored treatment plan, and an accurate quote, I am available to schedule a consultation. Each patient is unique, and together we will ensure that your tummy tuck experience is safe, well-planned, and fully aligned with your expectations.
